Restoration Blunders

If you look to the far right of the trailer, you will see the step folded in. After calculating, the step, although was placed exactly where it had been before (after Cliff beefed it up), was going to be just a few inches one way of the doorway.

So, Cliff began to cut it off with the cutting wheel of his grinder.

It's off! What is not pictured is that he welded it back on in the proper place.

Cliff prepares for our first rain of the season. But what he hadn't counted on was that even though the wood was protected from the rain, he didn't expect condensation underneath the tarp. So, the wood got wet anyway!!

And, it stained it...but no worries, it's already dry (within 24 hours) and ready for the congoleum.

Floor Work Continues

Cliff continues to work on the floor. He has primer, sealed seams and painted a top coat with enamel paint on the underside of the floor. Presently, the floor frame work is resting on the metal frame. The next steps will be bolting the floor to the metal frame, placing insulation in between braces, installing top flooring and laying down the congoleum.

Working the Floor

Cliff applies the floor paneling on the underside of the floor frame.

Then he paints with a primer.  On another day he will apply sealant on the seams and finish with enamel paint.

I love this part!!

Done for the day!!

FLOOR FRAMING BEGINS

Now the building begins and I don't want to get in the way, so let me hide behind one of our redwoods and watch...

No, maybe if I hide behind the side of the garage I can get a better look and still be out of the way...

Actually, if I get next to the service truck I will be able to have a better angle...

Oh well, I'm just going to get in the way!!

Oh look at our pretty grass...it's so beautiful and...so flowy...just look at it!!  It just sways with motion like ocean waves, and it can be very mesmerizing.  You aught a come over and watch it with me sometime...Oh yeah, this is the "trailer" blog...

Sheesh!  You have to be a contortionist to do this work!

When I was on the college vaulting team (gymnastics on horseback), we called this "The Flag!"  You don't believe I was on the vaulting team...gymnastics on horseback?  Let me go get a photo and prove it!!!  Okay, I can't find the photos of me...I looked and looked.  I really wanted you to see me in my leotards and skirt.  Honest, I was on a team and our horse's name was Poky!  Really!!
Okay, so I couldn't find my photos, so I borrowed one from the net.  This is what vaulting is all about.  I know you thought I was pulling your leg, didn't you?!  I don't  spoof, people.  I tell the truth!!  When I find those photos, I'll prove it to you.  Oh...yeah...back to the trailer!
Here is what the floor frame is shaping up to be.

Oh...my honey bunny is getting tired...

Goodness, Clifford, get some sleep!!
